Is This You?

Signs You Need an Electrician on Your Reno

If any of these sound familiar, get us involved early — before the drywall goes up.

You're renovating a kitchen or bathroom and need new circuits, additional outlets, or GFCI protection.

You're finishing a basement or adding a room and need lighting, outlets, and circuits run before the walls close.

Your home is older and the wiring needs to be brought up to current code as part of the renovation scope.

You're relying on extension cords, have overloaded circuits, or discovered questionable wiring once demo started — and the walls are already open.

Renovation electrical work done properly the first time.

Permits, inspections, rough-ins, panel upgrades, and final connections — all coordinated with your renovation schedule.

How It Works

How Quoting Works

Every renovation is different, so every quote starts with understanding your project.

1

You Know Exactly What You Need

Adding outlets, pot lights, a bathroom fan, or a new circuit? Send us photos and a short description. For many smaller projects, we can provide a quote the same day without visiting the property.

2

You Have Renovation Plans

Architectural drawings, renovation plans, sketches, or even phone photos are enough to get started. We'll provide an initial budget estimate and, if needed, schedule a site visit before issuing a final quote.

3

You Have an Idea, But You're Not Sure What's Involved

Not sure if something is possible, whether you'll need a permit, or whether it means opening walls? We'll explain the options, the challenges, and the expected cost before any work begins.

No plans? That's completely normal. Many renovation projects start with a conversation and are finalized on-site.

FAQ

Common Questions

Usually yes — if you're adding new circuits, rewiring, or modifying the panel. Simple swaps like replacing a fixture or outlet generally don't require one. We obtain permits, arrange inspections, and handle all the paperwork on your behalf. Permit fees are billed at cost with no markup. It's worth doing properly: unpermitted electrical work can create problems when you sell, and may affect your insurance.

Most renovation projects require two inspections:

  • Rough-in inspection — completed before insulation or drywall covers the wiring. Walls cannot close until this passes.
  • Final inspection — completed after devices, fixtures, and panel connections are installed.

We coordinate and attend both — you don't need to manage any of it.

Yes. We regularly coordinate with general contractors, builders, and other trades to keep renovation schedules on track. We communicate directly with whoever's running the job. If you don't have a GC yet, we can advise on sequencing so electrical doesn't hold anything up.

Usually not. Electrical upgrades are typically limited to the areas being renovated — wiring in untouched rooms is generally left as-is. We'll explain exactly what's required and what remains optional. If your home has knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring throughout, we'll give you an honest assessment of what needs attention now and what can wait.

We focus exclusively on electrical work. If wall access is required, drywall repairs are typically completed by your general contractor or drywall trade after the electrical work is finished.

Typical timelines:

  • Outlet or circuit additions: a few hours
  • Kitchen rough-in: approximately one day
  • Basement rough-in: one to two days
  • Whole-home rewiring: several days

We'll provide a project-specific timeline during the quoting process and coordinate around your renovation schedule.

Absolutely. Send us photos, sketches, or simply describe what you're trying to accomplish. We'll determine whether a remote quote is possible or whether a site visit would be more appropriate. Many projects start with a conversation.

We keep cuts straight and as small as possible — making it easier for your drywall contractor to patch cleanly.
